Meet Sierra!!

                                                                     SIERRA

Hi everyone, Willow here.  I have decided to take a day off from my whining and complaining about my family being gone.  I decided I would take a day off from feeling neglected.  Why you ask?  I am doing this so I can share my story about my cousin Sierra with all of you.  Now if you have been over to Beasely's Blog you have already heard about Sierra.  If not then let me introduce you.........
Sierra is a 7 month old Rare Black Airedale that resides at the Tenkiller Airedale Kennels.  She is very sweet and loves to help out all those she lives with.  My grandma got a call one day from a lady named Allison saying she needed a worker dog because her dog just died.  She told my grandma her story of growing up in an orphanage, living in a dirty environment and getting Polio.   This is one nasty disease my friends.  I sure am glad we fur kids can't get it!

Allison had a post-polio status for many years.  She grew up to live a fairly normal life, married, raised children, volunteered with autistic children and children in crisis.  These are just some of the volunteer work she has done in her lifetime.   All I do is volunteer my poops to my boy, slurps to my mommy and whining to dad.  Hmmmm

Allison is now 54 years old and became sick with her Polio again.  She no longer can walk or work or do the things she once did.   When she reached out for help in the community that she helped for so long she got NO help.  So my grandma donated Sierra to her and another kind lady who trains worker dogs has volunteered her time to train Sierra.   If I could I would bite me some people, but instead we are going to help her.  We at our house are giving up a month of treats and toys.  Mom says we are kinda spoiled and can go without for a month.

Sierra and Allison need to be together as soon as possible.  We are trying to raise funds for the flight, the spaying and training materials.  Sierra will be flying from El Paso, Texas to Maine.  We know times are hard for everyone so any little bit can help these two out!  Thanks fur pals for reading about Sierra and Allison.  I am sure they will keep us up to date on their status or Apache will.    If you can help out please contact my human at cactusbird70@comcast.net.
This is Willow signing out from the lonely Compound.  Don't worry I will be back to feeling sorry for myself tomorrow.  I still say no to the puppy.  My mom said something about a Red one.  She scares me!!

Sierra and Pita hanging out at the fence.  Sierra is telling Pita about the big trip she is going to take.   She was enquiring about a map!  Sierra wants to know what it is like in Maine.  Being that she was born in the desert she is a little worried.  After all...... I was born in the desert and now live in the Midwest.  Ummmm is that the same thing?

I'm so glad she is getting the help she needs. Mom says she will see what she can do about helping around the first if you still need it by then.

That is sooooo cool that your grandma is going to donate Sierra for such a good cause. I'm sure she will have a really great life! And she will be a tremendous help to Allyson. BTW, we are voting for a red 'dale to go home with your mom. Sorry, Willow! We just think one can never have too many 'dales!

Sierra is about to start a whole new life! I read about Allison on Mr. T-Bone Beasley's blog and he sent me the address so I can send some of my treat money over. Mom and I agreed that I can 'go without' for a while as well. Allison sure is lucky to be getting a great girl like Sierra!

Your pal,
Kirby
